Frequently asked questions

It’s common to have a lot of questions while you’re considering attending a Career and Technical Education school.

To assist you in making your choice, we have compiled the most frequently asked questions below. If you don’t find the answer you’re looking for, we are happy to speak with you. Please email us at baldwinprep@bcbe.org

Early applications for current BCBE students will be accepted beginning December 1. Students/parents can complete the application found online at the Baldwin Prep website. Once the application is submitted and received, it will be reviewed by a Selection Committee. While we cannot provide a firm timeline at this time on when selection notification will go out, each BCBE student applicant will be contacted by an administrator from Baldwin Prep once selections are made.

If you are interested in working at Baldwin Prep please go to www.bcbe.org/jobs for more information.

Baldwin Prep is part of Baldwin County Public Schools. As such there is not a tuition fee for students to attend, but there may be course or operational fees based on the field of study just like those course fees associated with courses at a student’s base school.

Any potential student is able to complete and submit an application in December, however, at this time, BPA is only reviewing and accepting applicants from in-district students, i.e. resident students currently enrolled and attending a BCBE school. Depending on enrollment numbers, BPA may open enrollment for non-resident students and/or resident students who are not currently enrolled in a BCBE school (“out-of-district students”) in February of 2024. Should an out-of-district student complete an application in December, it will not be considered at this time. Please check back to the BPA website for further information as to open enrollment and instructions for out-of-district students.

Important: “Out-of-district students” refers to those students who may or may not be residents of Baldwin County, but who are not currently enrolled as a student in a BCBE school including but not limited to those students who: attend private school, are homeschooled, or attend a public school that is not a school within the Baldwin County Board of Education geographic boundary lines such as Gulf Shores City School System students.

Baldwin Preparatory Academy offers something for every type of student. Whether you learn better with real life, hands-on activities, you want to develop life skills to be prepared for life after high school, you want to get a jump start on college by earning college credits during high school or you want to be prepared for new and emerging careers, we have a program that’s right for you.

As a Baldwin Prep student, you will spend two hours of the day with your CTE class, focusing on your career pathway and getting the real life experiences that will prepare you for your post-secondary education and future career. The remainder of the day will be spent taking academic classes in a collaborative setting, working with your classmates on projects to create strong teamwork and leadership skills for industry.

Baldwin Prep programs are focused on preparing you for post-secondary education and your future career. As a student, you will get hands-on experience that will help you make important life decisions as you continue on your career pathway. All of our programs offer you the chance to earn industry certifications that will boost your resume. All pathways offer the chance to earn college credits, saving you money on college tuition.

Your participation in sports and extra-curricular activities is vital to your high school experience. Students will be allowed to participate in many of the after school activities their member school has to offer and we supply you with plenty of time at the end of the day to return to your home school for those events.

The early application period for Baldwin County Public Schools students only is December 1-21. Open application for all students begins February 1.

The early application period is for Baldwin County Public Schools students because classes could fill quickly. This school is about choice—early application makes it more likely you’ll get your first choice.

Applications for early enrollment will ONLY be accepted from currently enrolled Baldwin County Public School students. Those students currently enrolled in the Baldwin County Board of Education may submit an early registration application. Students who are attending a school outside the Baldwin County Public School System, or who do not reside in Baldwin County (i.e. “out-of-district students”) may be given the opportunity to submit an application during the regular registration depending on availability of seats. More information will be made available at that time.

All accepted students and a parent/guardian must attend an intake meeting to complete the registration process. The Intake meeting date will be provided with the initial acceptance letter.
